2025 Cook Out 400 at Richmond NASCAR Odds, Time, and Prediction
The 2025 Cook Out 400 at Richmond is the penultimate race of the regular season of the NASCAR Cup Series. Keep reading to see our top NASCAR picks for the August 16 event at Richmond International Raceway, Richmond, VA We’re not bragging, but most of our NASCAR predictions in 2025 came true, including the one for the most recent race – our +150 bet won easily last weekend. And we’re confident that our 2025 Cook Out 400 pick will win as well. So, who are we backing? Are we putting our money on a three-time Richmond winner, Denny Hamlin? Or are we betting that William Byron’s superb form will continue? Or maybe we’re backing some of the NASCAR legends who still haven’t booked a spot in the Playoffs – Kyle Busch, A. J. Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski? To find out the answer, just keep on reading! Denny Hamlin is one of the finest drivers in the world in 2025. He’s currently in the No. 3 position in the NASCAR Cup Series Drivers’ championship, and with four wins to his name, he’s one of the top favorites to become the champ. In fact, his outright odds to win the 2025 Cup Series are +400. The only driver with shorter odds is Kyle Larson at +375. Denny Hamlin booked his ticket to the Playoffs back in March at the Cook Out 400 in Martinsville, but his form hasn’t dipped since. Actually, he’s been brilliant throughout the season, with his most recent win happening at Dover in July. Richmond fun fact: In his 36 Cup starts at the track, Denny Hamlin's career worst finish is only 24th (Spring 2008), a race in which he led 381/400 laps. pic.twitter.com/HOVZIhlMrb In the following race (at Indiana), he finished third, but then, in his last two races, we saw him finish 24th(Iowa) and 25th(The Glen). That’s not ideal for Hamlin, who wishes to enter the postseason in top gear. He needs to get his mojo back ASAP, and the best way to do it is to triumph at Richmond Int Raceway. That’s a track that seems to suit him well, the evidence being that he’s already won three times there. That’s more than any other active driver on the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series roster. Thirteen drivers have already qualified for the 2025 NASCAR Playoffs by winning at least one race. There are three more slots available, and with two races remaining in the regular season, the situation is heating up. There are a couple of drivers that are high in the standings, despite not winning a race this year. Among those are Tyler Reddick, Alex Bowman, Ryan Preece, and a few more. Kyle Busch won at least one race every year from 2005 to 2023! https://t.co/qBc9nhigcF pic.twitter.com/xqtG6PPLfW The two-time NASCAR Champ Kyle Busch is in the 15thspot at the moment, but unless he drastically ups his points, he won’t get to the postseason. The alternative for him is to win one of the two remaining races. We think that’s on his mind ahead of the 2025 Richmond NASCAR race. The same thoughts are in the head of Brad Keselowski and A. J. Allmendinger – only a win in the final two races of the regular season would get them to the Playoffs. Then, there’s Ty Gibbs, the only member of the 2025 Joe Gibbs Racing roster who still hasn’t booked the ticket to the postseason. Joe’s son leaves and breathes NASCAR and is one of the rising stars in the Cup Series. He’s a well-rounded driver, but his record on short D-shaped tracks like Richmond isn’t that great. With the NASCAR at Richmond odds of +5000, Ty Gibbs looks like a fantastic longshot bet. We think that with the help of his team, he could pull off an upset on August 16. However, we’re worried that drivers from other teams won’t let it happen. This goes especially for Denny Hamlin, whose record at Richmond (and other short tracks) makes him a top favorite in our eyes. Pick: Denny Hamlin
